Ash Wedneday:
The Catholic religion use ashes on Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday starts the season of Lent.
Fast and Abstinence:
According to Canon Law in the Western Rite of the Church, a day of fast is when people who are between the ages of 18-60 are required to keep a limited fast.
Abstain from Meat:
There are a variety of reasons why Catholics abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Fridays during Lent. Technically and traditionally, Catholics should abstain from meat every Friday of the year as penance.
Palm Sunday and Easter:
Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter Sunday. Palm Sunday is the start of Holy Week. Easter is when Jesus Christ resurrected from the dead.
